Anya and Ryan´s Moen cliffs intimate winter elopement.

Updated: Apr 24, 2022

Anja and Ryan chose to elope abroad for their February wedding as they really wanted to get married by beautiful Moens Cliffs (in Danish: Møns klint) on the Danish Island of Moen. It must have been fate that they found one another as Anja is from Germany and Ryan is from Hawaii. Then together they found us here in Denmark, which just shows you what a small world we live in.

They booked our Adventure Wedding Package that saw them have a traditional town hall wedding ceremony at the magical Maribo Town Hall on the Danish Island of Lolland.

Maribo dates back from the 15th century, the city was named after a convent dedicated to Virgin Mary and over time the name was changed to Maribo meaning ’Mary’s Home’.

Anja looked stunning in a traditional ivory wedding dress with a co-ordinated hooded cape that so perfectly suited a remote island Nordic wedding in February. Ryan, we don’t want to miss you out, you looked lovely too. The frock coat was especially smart!

After the ceremony there was time for a walk around the pretty cobbled streets and coloured houses that are so particular to Denmark. And it was a chance for their photographer to get some great portrait images. The weather was foggy and a little wet but that just added to the mystical Nordic atmosphere of the location. Plus, we equipped the couple with clear umbrellas, and Anja had worn the most perfect wedding boots that allowed her to fully enjoy the adventurous location.

Anja and Ryan then headed to beautiful Moen Island to explore the majestic chalk cliffs of Møns Klint. The 70-million-year-old chalk cliffs are known as the birthplace of Denmark by scientists from all over the world. They make a stunning backdrop with the clear blue Baltic Sea and white cliffs, the perfect location for an adventure wedding. There were so many amazing images from the day but this one of Anja and Ryan, with Møns Klint white chalk cliffs and beautiful Baltic Sea behind them, is amongst our favorites. Here take a look.

As you can see, when it comes to idyllic island wedding destinations Mon Island is perfect. A romantic remote location with one of the most impressive landscapes in Denmark. The perfect combination of a romantic yet adventurous wedding location. It’s no wonder that couples come from all over the world choose to have their overseas elopement wedding at Mons Klint.

Planning beautiful elopement weddings and working with lovely couples like Anja and Ryan are what we love best about our job as Denmark elopement wedding planners. We really enjoyed meeting Anja and Ryan and planning their perfect remote island elopement wedding in Denmark.

Congratulations to Anja and Ryan for getting married and creating such a unique and amazing wedding day that they’ll remember fondly forever. We’ll leave the last words to them. Here’s what Anja and Ryan had to say about working with us.

”Lena and Carsten have been the best hosts, wedding planner and guides and treated us like family! They helped us with the whole journey from how to get there, where to sleep and eat and what to do. We didn't just get married. We experienced another culture, nature and always felt like we were special. We would always do it again and are already planning to go back. Thank you, Lena & Carsten, for the best day of our lives!”
