Say “I do” surrounded by Danish history at one of Lolland's most intimate and unusual wedding locations.

Imagine arriving for your wedding not at a traditional town hall, but at a historic Danish manor house.

You walk through rooms that once belonged to one of Denmark's most influential families. Outside are old trees, lakes, lawns and a romantic landscape park. Inside, history is still visible in the furniture, portraits and elegant interiors.

And this isn't simply somewhere to take wedding photographs.

You can actually get married here.

Welcome to Pederstrup Manor, today home to the Reventlow Museum on the Danish island of Lolland - one of the most unusual intimate wedding locations we can offer international couples in Denmark.

Nordic Adventure Weddings works with Museum Lolland-Falster to arrange weddings at Pederstrup, giving couples the opportunity to combine a legal marriage in Denmark with a setting full of history and character.

A Danish Manor House With More Than 200 Years of Stories

Pederstrup isn't a modern wedding venue designed to look historic.

It is historic.

The estate's history stretches back to the Middle Ages, while the manor house is particularly associated with Count Christian Ditlev Frederik Reventlow, one of the leading figures behind Denmark's agricultural reforms.

Reventlow transformed Pederstrup into his family home, and between 1813 and 1822 the house was rebuilt in the elegant Neoclassical style associated with the property today. Since 1940, Pederstrup has been home to the Reventlow Museum.

Today, stepping inside feels very different from entering a conventional wedding venue.

Portraits, furniture and historic interiors tell the story of the people who lived here, while the surrounding landscape helps explain why Pederstrup became such a beloved family home. The museum describes the experience as an opportunity to encounter life among both the manor's owners and servants around 200 years ago.

For couples looking for a wedding location with a genuine connection to Denmark, that history makes Pederstrup particularly special.

Yes - You Can Actually Get Married at Pederstrup

This is what makes Pederstrup different from many historic attractions couples discover while researching Denmark.

It isn't only somewhere beautiful to visit after your ceremony.

A marriage ceremony can actually take place here.

Getting Married in the King's Hall

One of the most atmospheric possibilities at Pederstrup is an intimate ceremony in the manor's King's Hall.

Rather than a large conventional wedding hall, the surroundings give the ceremony the feeling of stepping briefly into another period of Danish history.

This is exactly why I think Pederstrup works particularly well for elopements and small destination weddings.

You don't need hundreds of guests or elaborate decorations to make the location impressive.

The architecture, historic rooms and atmosphere already do much of the work.

A bridal bouquet, beautiful clothes and the two of you may be all that's needed.

And because this is a genuine museum rather than a wedding venue created specifically for events, your photographs won't look like everybody else's wedding photographs.

You Don't Need a Traditional Castle Wedding

Couples sometimes tell us:

“We love history and castles, but we don't want a huge formal wedding.”

Pederstrup is exactly the kind of location I would show them.

It offers some of the atmosphere people associate with a Danish castle or manor wedding, but on a much more intimate scale.

There is no need to create a grand production around the building.

You can have a small ceremony, enjoy the surroundings, walk through the park together and create a wedding day that feels meaningful rather than formal.

For international couples travelling to Denmark with only a few guests - or even completely alone - that can be incredibly appealing.

After the Ceremony - Step Into Reventlow Park

And then you open the door and go outside.

This is where Pederstrup becomes even more interesting for an intimate wedding.

The manor stands within Reventlow Park, a romantic landscape garden with lakes, centuries-old trees, lawns, small hidden corners, a historic tea house and an ice cellar. The park was developed in the romantic English landscape style during the 19th century.

It means you don't need to finish your ceremony and immediately get into a car to find somewhere beautiful for photographs.

Your wedding photography can continue naturally around the estate.

Walk beneath the old trees.

Stop beside the lake.

Have a quiet moment away from everyone.

Bring a small picnic.

Or simply spend some time together before continuing your wedding day elsewhere on Lolland.

The park is open throughout the year from sunrise to sunset.

A Wedding Destination on Lolland - Not Just a Ceremony Location

One of the things we particularly love about Pederstrup is its location on Lolland.

For international couples, there is an opportunity to make the ceremony part of a small Danish wedding journey rather than flying into Copenhagen, marrying and immediately flying home.

Pederstrup lies around 12 kilometres from Nakskov.

And Lolland-Falster has much more to discover.

Who Is a Pederstrup Wedding Perfect For?

Pederstrup is especially suited to couples who are looking for an intimate wedding in Denmark with history, atmosphere and nature rather than a conventional large wedding venue.

We particularly love it for international couples planning an elopement or small wedding; couples who appreciate museums, architecture and Danish history; couples who want somewhere unusual but not extravagant; and couples who want both their ceremony and wedding photographs to feel distinctly connected to Denmark.

It's also a beautiful alternative for couples who initially imagined a castle wedding but discover that what they really want is history and atmosphere rather than grandeur.

Can International Couples Legally Marry at Pederstrup?

Yes - subject, of course, to completing the required Danish legal marriage process and obtaining approval to marry in Denmark.

This is where Nordic Adventure Weddings can take care of the process for you.

We assist international couples with the required marriage documentation and legal process in Denmark and coordinate the practical arrangements connected with your Pederstrup ceremony.

So instead of trying to coordinate the Danish authorities, museum, ceremony and practical details from abroad, you have one team helping you through the process.

Can We Come to Denmark Just the Two of Us?

Absolutely.

In fact, Pederstrup is a location where an elopement can make perfect sense.

A beautiful historic room doesn't need to be filled with guests to feel special.

Your day can be about the two of you:

arrive at the manor, have your legal ceremony, step outside into the park for photographs, perhaps enjoy a glass of champagne, and then continue somewhere beautiful on Lolland for dinner or an overnight stay.

If you want to bring a few people you love, the experience can of course become a small intimate wedding instead.

The point isn't the number of guests.

It's the experience.

What Happens After the Wedding?

After your legal marriage, you receive an official Danish marriage certificate.

For international couples, this is one of the reasons Denmark is such an attractive place to marry.

Nordic Adventure Weddings guides you through the process from the initial document preparation through to the legal marriage and receipt of your marriage certificate.

Planning a Wedding at Pederstrup Manor?

If you're dreaming about getting married somewhere with genuine Danish history — but want something more intimate and unexpected than a traditional castle wedding — Pederstrup may be exactly the place you've been looking for.

Nordic Adventure Weddings can help you with both sides of the experience:

We'll check your situation, guide you through the required documents and help coordinate your wedding at this extraordinary historic location.
